A sponsored work route requiring an approved employer, valid Certificate of Sponsorship, eligible occupation, salary and English. Qualifying residence may lead to settlement after the applicable period, but the visa does not grant ILR automatically.
The health and care branch of the Skilled Worker route for eligible doctors, nurses, health professionals and qualifying care roles. A licensed sponsor, CoS, eligible occupation, salary and English are required; some care roles have separate recruitment restrictions.
For recognised or promising leaders in academia and research, arts and culture or digital technology. Endorsement is usually required, although eligible prize winners may apply without it. The route does not require an employer offer and may lead to settlement on a route-specific timeline.
A sponsored route beginning with a qualifying job at an approved high-growth business. The initial stage is tied to the sponsor, while later permission depends on the route's work and income requirements and may contribute to settlement.
For an adult founder with an innovative, viable and scalable business endorsed by an approved body. The applicant must play a key day-to-day role; settlement requires continued business activity and a new settlement endorsement meeting the growth criteria.
A study-to-work route beginning with a licensed institution, CAS, funds and English. After completing an eligible course, the graduate may apply in the UK before Student permission expires. The Graduate visa cannot be extended and does not itself create the work-route settlement clock.
For a spouse, civil partner or qualifying partner of a person with the required UK status. The relationship must be genuine and continuing, with the applicable English, financial and accommodation requirements. Fiancé permission and other visas normally do not count toward the standard five-year partner route.
For eligible Commonwealth, British overseas status or Zimbabwean citizens who can prove a qualifying grandparent born in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man. Applicants apply from outside the UK and must be able and willing to work and support themselves.
For a BN(O) citizen, qualifying adult child and eligible family members. The route permits work and study and can lead to settlement after the qualifying residence, subject to location, relationship and continuing eligibility rules.
Meeting a residence or eligibility period usually does not grant status automatically; check each route's application method and limits.
A UK Ancestry holder may apply after the qualifying continuous residence while remaining able and willing to work or be self-employed and meeting the English, Life in the UK, absence and suitability requirements.
