A non-citizen employee must have a Tongan employer, labour-market support and an employment visa. A longer-term application may also require the contract, professional qualifications, business registration and any necessary practising licence.
A foreign national establishing or operating a Tongan business must obtain relevant government support, company and sector permissions and demonstrate the actual investment. A business visa is not a land-purchase or automatic-settlement right.
For a non-citizen retiring on an overseas pension or fund income. The official page states annual income of at least TOP10,000; the visa is generally issued for two years or longer and may be renewable, but it does not permit work, study or business activity.
Only for a person who can prove Tongan ancestry, former Tongan citizenship or marriage to a Tongan citizen, with a sponsor able to cover living, medical and accommodation needs.
